Karen Sue Hollingsworth Ortity, 56, of Bainbridge, passed away at home surrounded by her loving family on April 2, 2017 following a brave battle with cancer. She was born in Columbia to James Smith Hollingsworth, Jr. and the late Betty Caryl Bair Wehler and was a lifelong resident of this area. Karen was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary for the V.F.W. of Elizabethtown and Mountville and American Legion Bainbridge Post 197. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and husband, antiques, chickens, motorcycle riding, and fishing. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother.
Karen leaves behind her husband, Steven Allen Ortity; her son, John Henry, IV, husband of Beth Manuel and parents of Elijah Manuel; her daughter, Kaila Jeanne Manuel, companion of Bill Orendorff and parents of Steven Manuel, Kadynce Orendorff, Aubrey Orendorff, Kelsey Orendorff, Brooke Orendorff all of Elizabethtown; her sister, Denise Mowrer, mother of Chae Mowrer and Kesare Mowrer of Renova, PA; Kelly Leas, mother of Nicole Leas, Trevor Leas and Larry Leas, III of Columbia; her brother-in-law, Mr. Larry Leas of Columbia; a stepsister, Tammy, wife of Brad Winters of Pleasant Gap, PA; her aunt, Nancy J. Nance of Monteo, NC; her uncle, Harold Dennis Hollingsworth of Columbia; numerous other nieces and nephews. In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by her brother, James S. Hollingsworth, III.
The celebration of life for Karen will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 8, 2017 at the Clyde W. Kraft Funeral Home, 519 Walnut St., Columbia, PA 17512. The family will receive friends for visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. until service time. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Humane League of Lancaster County, 2195 Lincoln Hwy.
