Mildred M. "Moot" Hilliar, 96, died on Sunday at St. Anne's
Retirement Community. She was the wife of the late John Hamilton
Hilliar. Born in Columbia, PA she was the daughter of the late Verne
Ralph and Florence Hevner Miller. She was employed as a seamstress for
the former Tidy Products Co. in Columbia where she retired in 1985. She
was a member of St. James Lutheran Church in Columbia and sang in the
church choir for 73 years. She volunteered for the Columbia Food Bank
and the Columbia Chamber of Commerce. She was a member of the B.P.O.
Elks Lodge Auxiliary. She was also a social member of the Hambones Fire
is a daughter: Jean M. wife of Leonard Bell of Myrtle Beach, SC, 2
Grandsons, 5 Great-Grandchildren and 5 Great-Great Grandchildren,
Sisters: Betty Hoffman of Columbia, PA and Arlene wife of John Landis of
Lancaster, PA. She was predeceased by Brothers: Thomas, Mervin, George,
Ralph and Robert Miller and Sisters: Lillian Miller, Gloria Parkins and
a Baby Sister.
Celebration of Mildred's Life will be held from St. James Lutheran
Church, 10th & Manors Streets, Columbia, PA on Friday, November 3,
2017 at 11:00AM (VISITATION WITH THE FAMILY: 10:00AM – 11:00AM) with
Rev. Mark Kopp officiating. Private Interment will be held in Laurel
Hill Memorial Gardens following the service. The family requests that
flowers be omitted. Memorial Contributions in Mildred's memory may be
made to St. James Lutheran Church, 655 S. 10th St., Columbia, PA 17512.
